As part of capacity building, Nazariya QFRG conducts training programs on gender, sexuality, LGBTQIA+ issues, mental well-being, masculinities, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) and other related issues with civil society organisations, educational institutes, private and government agencies, and anyone who wishes to work with us. We design intersectional training sessions and highlight the discrimination and exclusion queer women and trans* individuals face from their families, schools, workplaces, public spaces, and so on.
Some of the different types of training/workshops/courses which we organise include:
- Exploring the Self through the Lens of Gender and Sexuality: To make education spaces inclusive and affirming for queer and trans* persons, Nazariya started a fellowship programme titled 'Exploring the Self Through the Lens of Gender and Sexuality: An Intersectional Fellowship’ in the year 2020. It is a five-month-long fellowship programme that we conduct for students every year. It has an incubation period, where we bring different resource persons to give perspectives on a variety of themes like disability, gender and sex, sexuality, education spaces, religion, caste, sports and sex characteristics, sexual harassment at the workplace, laws on LGBTQIA+ issues, and how to make SMART goals. The fellows who have been part of this fellowship completed various projects such as documenting the queer history of Delhi, publishing a book called “Sex Education: Beginning with Basics”, Spin the Slur, conducting a workshop on the role of language in gender and sexuality politics etc.
- Diversity, Equity, and Equality (DE&I): Nazariya also conducts DE&I workshops with organisations and corporates. Our DE&I training sessions are designed specifically for different organisations/companies to make their workplaces inclusive and safe. We work towards addressing unconscious biases in the workspaces so that workspaces become empathetic and compassionate.
- Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH): Our POSH training sessions not only include legal aspects of the law, but also focus on gender, sexuality, consent, and related issues. We believe that without understanding these issues, a legal perspective on POSH will be incomplete.
- Well-being sessions: Since 2018, Nazariya has been collaborating with TARSHI (Talking About Reproductive and Sexual Health Issues) on mental well-being, stress, and burnout prevention of human rights defenders. With this experience, we have conducted sessions on mental well-being and collective care with human rights defenders.
- Workshops/Training Sessions/Panels on Invitation and Collaborations: Some of the organisations and universities that we have collaborated with in the past include the Airport Authority of India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Adobe, Noida, PVR, Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, Dayal Singh College, Miranda House, Tezpur University, Ambedkar University Delhi etc. We are also invited for several panels where we talk about issues related to gender, sexuality, LGBTQIA+ issues, and other related issues.
