This vertical of Nazariya focuses on providing a community space for LBQT persons and also publish easy-to-read materials for and/or about queer and trans* persons and our lived realities. We also conduct research, review HR policies, write curriculum, review modules, and create films in this vertical.

Community Engagement

We believe in building safe and inclusive spaces for queer and trans* individuals to come together. We have a survivors of violence network called "Hum Sang", which meets once a month. We also host a support group called “A Room for Us” for cis-women partners of trans masculine persons, transmen, and butch women. In addition to this, we also organise monthly meet-ups called  “Q-Tales”, where we create a space for queer art and culture to thrive.

Drop-in-centre and Community Library

We have opened up our working space to the community and built a resource centre for queer and trans* persons to access a diverse collection of books and films. The library is a safe space open to all queer persons where they can relax, read, watch movies, and access various kinds of resources around gender and sexuality.

Publications/Resources

Our library also has resources and guides that we have published. So far we have developed a Case workers’ Guide for Dealing with Crisis Work for Queer and Trans* Persons, a Workplace Guide for DE&I, a Runaway Guide for Queer-trans* Folx, Parent’s Guide to Coming Out, children’s story books such as “The Champa Flower”, “Why is Pinki so Angry?” etc.  You can find some of these resources on our website:  https://thenazariyafoundation.org/resources

Research, review of curriculum, review of HR policies on request: The inclusion of queer and trans persons in the workplace has become increasingly an important topic in recent years. Many organisations and companies are hiring queer and trans persons in their workplace. Therefore, it is important to have queer-inclusive HR policies in place. Nazariya reviews and re-writes HR policies of different organisations to make them inclusive.

We also help write modules for organisations working on violence, livelihoods, education, and other development issues to build a queer perspective in their work.
